2025 Acura TLX vs. 2025 Mercedes-Benz C-Class

Discover Our Acura Inventory!

I’ve always loved a good sedan. Something sporty, sharp-looking, and well put together—but practical enough to handle my day-to-day life here in Springfield, Missouri.

When I finally got the assignment to test some, two names kept popping up: the 2025 Acura TLX and the 2025 Mercedes-Benz C-Class. I drove both. I compared everything from power to comfort to tech. And for me, the TLX just made more sense—for how I drive, how I live, and what I value. Come to Acura of Springfield for more information including a test drive to help you choose.

Here’s what I found.

TLX Brought the Power. The C-Class... Showed Up.

On paper, they’re pretty close: both have turbocharged 2.0-liter engines. But once you drive them? Big difference.

The TLX has 272 horsepower, which you feel immediately when pulling onto Glenstone or getting up to speed on Highway 60. The Mercedes C 300 has 255 hp, which isn’t bad—but it just didn’t feel as eager. Plus, the TLX comes with a 10-speed automatic, making it smoother and more responsive than the 9-speed in the C-Class.

Want more juice? The TLX Type S gives you 355 horsepower and Super Handling All-Wheel Drive™. Even the C-Class AMG trim didn’t feel as connected to the road.

The Commuter’s Edge: TLX Wins the Daily Drive

One of the things I didn’t expect? How much nicer the TLX is during everyday commutes.

For drives such as school drop-offs, heading to work off Sunshine Street, and running errands near Battlefield Mall, I realized the TLX was just easier to live with. The ride is smoother, the turning radius is tighter, and the controls are simpler to use quickly while driving. The Mercedes felt a bit more like it was made to impress, but not necessarily to make your day easier.

2025 Acura TLX Performance!

The TLX felt purpose-built for Springfield traffic—responsive in stop-and-go, confident on wide roads, and forgiving on the rough patches near older intersections.

Inside the TLX: Sporty, Smart, and Surprisingly Comfortable

Acura nailed the vibe here. The driver’s seat feels like a cockpit, not just a chair. Everything wraps around you—the digital gauge cluster, the touchpad interface, the seats—it just feels designed for real drivers, not backseat passengers. I liked the C-Class interior too—it’s very sleek—but the portrait touchscreen and touch-sensitive controls felt distracting. Too many swipes and taps. In the TLX, the True Touchpad Interface™ took maybe 10 minutes to get used to, and now I barely think about it. What I really loved:

  • The 12.3-inch Precision Cockpit™ display
  • Heated front seats and dual-zone climate (standard!)
  • Available ELS Studio® audio, which is on another level
  • Wireless CarPlay® and Android Auto™—no cords, no clutter

Weekend Trip to Branson? TLX Handles It Like a Champ

The adaptive cruise control is super helpful for long highway stretches. The massaging seats make a real difference, especially coming back tired after the long weekend. And the sound insulation? You barely hear road noise, even with the music off. It made the whole trip feel more relaxed. I can’t say the same for the C-Class. It looked great in the city, but on the open road it felt a bit more disconnected—like it was built more for looks than long-haul comfort.

Style That Doesn’t Blend In

Let’s be honest: a lot of sedans look the same now. But the 2025 TLX actually stands out. Wide stance. Jewel Eye® LED lights. It has a muscular, performance-driven look without trying too hard. People noticed it. I noticed it.

The C-Class, on the other hand, looked nice—but in a more reserved, businesslike way. Nothing wrong with that, but the TLX just had more personality.

No Upcharges for Things I Actually Wanted

Here’s something Springfield drivers will appreciate: you don’t have to spend more just to get basic luxury in the TLX. You’re already getting:

  • Power moonroof
  • Heated front seats
  • Wireless phone connectivity
  • Ambient lighting
  • AcuraWatch™ safety suite

To get those same features in the C-Class? Prepare to shell out for packages and trim upgrades.

Absolutely. The 272-hp engine feels strong off the line and cruises effortlessly at highway speeds.
How’s the ride quality compared to the C-Class?
The TLX is smooth but sporty—great for city streets and long drives. The Mercedes rides softer but felt floaty to me.
Does the TLX offer all-wheel drive?
Yes! SH-AWD® is available and makes a big difference when the weather gets bad here in Missouri.
Is it comfortable enough for long trips?
100%. The seats are supportive, the cabin is quiet, and the optional massaging feature is amazing on road trips.
