Posted on January 7, 2016Nothing was really wrong with the 2015 ILX per se, but there were a few things to improve upon. Acura has done so, and the freshly updated 2016 model year is going to be tough to beat. One of the biggest factors for 2016 is the lack of engine choices. That’s a good thing, considering the underwhelming performance of the 2.0-liter 4-cylinder. That engine has been left off the drawing board altogether, and the 201-horsepower 2.4-liter takes the reins as the only choice under the hood. The engine is peppy to say the least, and pairing it with an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission brings out the spirit in the four-banger. While other competitors boast a more powerful performance option, the reality is that most buyers are commuting or transporting family, not sprinting light-to-light against other imports. ILX feels like a driver’s car. The steering feel isn’t lost in the mix and the drive gets a responsive, sporty suspension and steering system. You can feel the road beneath the wheels, yet not in an uncomfortable way. The front and rear bumpers got a bit of a facelift also, though barely necessary. The newly-styled front bumper is adorned with piercing Jewel Eye LED headlights that increase the ferocity of the ILX’s appearance. Available fog lights and a rear spoiler, along with 18” rims and tires, jazz up the sporty appearance of the ILX for those who want less refinement and more performance.Inside, the features are boundless, with a standard sunroof and backup camera, and the seating is firm yet comfortable. AcuraWatch features integrate Blind Spot Warning, Rear Cross Traffic Alerts, Lane Keeping Assist, and other active safety features. A symphonic 10-speaker ELS audio system entertains passengers with crisp, clean sound no matter what source. The 2016 Acura ILX is now available at Acura of Springfield.
